Summertime!

It's summer and it's hot outside, let the fun begin.  We've had a really good and eventful summer so far.  It's hard to believe that Mateo is almost 5.  He is growing like a weed, and so much fun these days.  He has started soccer on Saturday mornings and is starting flag football soon.  He's such a good brother to Mia, always being sweet to her, even when she isn't reciprocating.

We took the kids to the zoo awhile back.  Unfortunately, Mia wet herself before we got there, and bad Mommy didn't pack her a change of clothes, so she had to wear Mateo's extras.  Good thing she is a big girl...

Nothing makes a kid happy like being outside and eating popsicles!

Juan was able to take Mateo to some Rangers games this year.  It makes Juan so happy to have a son that will not only sit through a sporting event, but that really enjoys it.  Baseball, soccer, football, it doesn't matter - if Mateo is with his Daddy screaming for some team he's having a blast.

Let the birthday parties begin.  This is the first year that birthday parties have been a big deal in Mateo's school, so I guess we have to start planning his.

We moved Mia to her big girl bed after she escaped her crib several times.  The first week was terrible, she kept coming out of her room and didn't want to go to bed.  Since then she has been perfect.

This picture is taken from the camera we have inside of Mia's room.  The only thing you can see in this picture is her ankles sticking out from under her curtains.  This was her trying to see us through her windows in her doors and trying to escape.  We eventually put butcher paper over the windows and rubber bands around the door knobs to keep her locked in her room and to teach her she can't come out.

Everyone laughs at these pictures, but believe me, at the time, it was so not funny.  Loss of sleep is one of my biggest fears, and this transition was much more difficult than Mateo's.  We are good now though!

Mateo's good friend, Elli, has moved to Houston.  She had her birthday party here though at a trampoline park.  The kids had such a good time, and it's so fun to watch Mateo interact with his friends.  He is such a kind and good-mannered boy, it makes us proud.

No comment on the photo below.  I swear we do not encourage or enable this behavior, and as his mother, it is quite concerning.  I can only blame it on school and society :/

We had a great trip to Houston to visit the Dewese's and to celebrate Cole's birthday.  These boys have only met a handful of times, but you would think they were together all the time.  They have such fun and are so well behaved!  It was an awesome trip to see great friends.

A little finger and belly painting on the back porch for entertainment.  It's hard to stay cooped up in the house on the weekends, so we do what we can outside.

Mia definitely has split personalities when it comes to her Daddy.  In the mornings, she will kick him in the face if her tries to wake her up and run from him like he's a monster.  But any other time of day she loves on him like this.

The kids stay entertained no matter what if they are outside.  This is the kids trying to help Juan with his jeep - big helpers!

Mia got this bicycle for her birthday.  She enjoys riding it, but hasn't quite figured out how to pedal herself so it is a lot of work for the pusher  (that's me).  And look at her beautiful tan!!!  I'm jealous, and all her friends will be jealous someday.

This was Juan's invention one night when I was gone, this was dinnertime pancakes in the shape of Mickey Mouse.  Such a good Daddy :)

Juan got this fortune one day - so true.  We have finalized all of our selections for our new house, and now we are just waiting for it to be built!  I keep saying I want it to be ready February of next year to avoid the holiday chaos, but we are really anxious to get in it, get some more space, and a wonderful yard for the kids to enjoy.

Summer fun has started at the daycare.  They have such a fun summer program, with splash days, field days, and Mia is in dance class.  It was a milestone in my book to sign her up for dance - something I've always wanted to do :)

That's all for now.  I am finally getting caught up, although out of order, on my posts!
