What a busy couple of weeks it has been. We've had both of our company Christmas parties and then this past weekend we had family Christmas at our house for the Stewart side of my family, took the kids to see Santa, and then I took Lady to see the Nutcracker last night.
Here are some pics from our parties. It was a good time and Mateo finally got to meet aunts, uncles, and cousins that he had never met.

Last weekend we took the kids to ride the North Pole Express train in Grapevine with some friends from work. Mateo had a great time, especially when Santa showed up on the train and handed out jingle bells to all of the kids.

It is all Spiderman all the time in our house. These are Mateo's new Spiderman PJs, complete with webs.

At dinner at Texas de Brazil with Lady for date night.
Today was a really big day for Mia. Not only did she start on real food at school, but she came home with her first ponytail. I wanted to cry for both. This child has been ready to eat real food for quite awhile and I've been putting it off until we went to her 9 month doctors appointment. Mia weighed in at 22 pounds and was 29 inches long, which is 96th percentile for both. She is the size of an average 15 month old. Doc said she can start on table food so this is the result. The daycare teachers sent me this pic at lunch. She must think she's in heaven!
First pony tail.
All smiles!
And this is her serious face, usually this comes out in the high chair when we get ready to eat.
We went to see Santa yesterday. Mateo actually opened up and talked to Santa, and Mia smiled and had no idea what was going on!
We finally found an indoor bounce house place around here so we took Mateo this weekend. Him (and Juan) had a great time and wore each other out!
Aunt Monkey and Uncle Worm came in town and we had Thanksgiving dinner at Lady and Paw Paw's house. It was a nice dinner, and then Friday we headed to downtown Fort Worth for the annual Parade of Lights. Unfortunately the weather turned colder that evening so it was quite a chilly night. Mateo really enjoyed the parade though, so that made it worthwhile.
Updates on Mia:
She is officially crawling on her knees now.
She has tooth number 9 coming in, and this one is a tough one. She hasn't been her happy self for the past couple of days.
Eating puffs. Mateo loved the Gerber puffs and now Mia does too.
Updates on Mateo:
Charlie the Elf (Elf on the Shelf) showed up this week to watch Mateo and fly back to Santa at night to tell him if Mateo was good or bad.
Mateo told Juan this week that he couldn't sleep because his eyes were broken.
Helping us keep Mia out of trouble. Mia is constantly trying to get his toys, so the other day he was following her around picking up all of his toys before she could get to them. He had both arms full of toys and couldn't pick anything else up. He also makes sure that she stays in baby jail, and acts as the "blocker" whenever she is going for something she shouldn't.
Here are some recent pics.
We took Mateo to see the Clifford the Big Red Dog musical. He really enjoyed it but someone that obviously doesn't have children scheduled it for 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon. Bad timing, so he was out on the drive home.
This is baby jail - the only room in the house that is kind of baby proof. The only room in the house that Mia is allowed in. It's going to be a long 3 years.
Getting all dressed up to go to Cabela's with Daddy on black Friday
Standing up on her own.
Perfect pair!
Look at all of those teeth!
School pictures actually turned out good for the first time ever.
Cutest baby girl in the cutest outfit!
Mateo helped me make some turkey cookies for his teachers for Thanksgiving. He was very helpful sorting through the jelly beans and M&Ms to find the right colors, and counting out the pieces for me. He was also very helpful in picking out the broken pieces so that he could put them in his bag for later.
Playing Memory with Lady (and beating her)
Watching the parade.

Mia trying to get past the Christmas tree barricade at Lady's house.
Mateo helped me decorate all of the Christmas trees this year.
This is Mia's tree for her room - white with all pink ornaments.
Mateo wanted a blue tree with red to match his Spiderman decor.
This is giggling baby video. This could go on all day at our house.
Mia turned 8 months old on the 10th. Where has the time gone? New things for Mia are:
Teeth. Lots and lots of teeth. She has 4 on bottom and 4 on top. And they pretty much all came in at one time.
Biting. With her new teeth, she is biting. Only me so far, but she tries to bury her head in my shoulder and bite. I have a major fear of biting having been through this with Mateo, so I am super sensitive to it and hope that it passes quickly.
Feeding herself. She loves the little Gerber puffs and Cheerios, and has gotten really good at getting them in her mouth.
Still belly crawling. She hasn't figured out how to get up on her knees yet, but that doesn't slow her down. Although we have to be more careful of rug burn and splinters the way she is dragging herself around now.
Pulling up. She starting pulling herself up all on her own this week. Time to lower the mattress! As I was watching her on the monitor yesterday morning, she started pulling up on her crib and I ran faster than I think I ever have to get to her room before she toppled over the edge. That's a good way to wake yourself up in the morning. We lowered the mattress shortly thereafter.
Preferences. Now that she can move, she gets her say in who she wants. Sunday she crawled all the way from Lady's living room to the kitchen, just to make it to Lady. Either that or she was going for the grilled cheese.
Mateo is definitely keeping us entertained. We don't know where he picks up most of the stuff that he says, but it is so amusing.
We were pulling up to the pharmacy to pick up some prescriptions and Mateo, irritated with the slowness, said in his meanest voice "Come on people." Hmm. Wonder who he gets that from.
Mateo told me this week that he was going to grow up and wanting me to grow down. Yes please.
When we were out trick or treating, Mateo face-planted in someone's yard, and his bucket full of candy spilled everywhere. Juan and I both reacted like he was going to start crying. And he just stood up and yelled "Dangit. I fell."
Blog 4 of 4. Today was Sunday Funday, and the longest day ever - dreaded time change...Mateo woke up at 5am new time, so that made for a very long day. Mateo, Mia, and I went to Lady's house to spend the day outside. It was a beautiful day - picture perfect, and I am afraid there won't be many more like this left. Here are some pics.
Practicing his pitch.
First time in the swing and she loved it.
Playing in the dirt.
She is always smiling when Mateo is around. He was pushing her and she was laughing and laughing.
Lady has to feed the animals around 4 everyday and Mateo likes to help. And this is his hat, which is actually the scoop that they use to throw the food in the lake...but Mateo likes to wear it as a hat.
Feeding the ducks.
We have given up on naps, so we have actually caught him dozing on the couch lately. This was after a day of outdoor play he finally fell asleep at about 5pm on the couch with stickers in his hands.
