Milestones...

Mateo grew up over night (sniff, sniff).  The last few weeks have proven that he isn't a little boy anymore.  Between the dentist appointment, potty training, and big boy bed I am feeling a little nostalgic for the old days.

He had a great week of potty training with no accidents.  Last night Juan decided it was the night to convert the crib into a toddler bed.  This is also another thing I have been putting off as long as possible, because I have heard horror stories about the toddler bed.  Mateo seemed unfazed by the whole thing, and didn't really acknowledge that anything was different (knock on wood).

And of course, some new Mia pics....

Big Boy Underwears!

Somebody wore big boy underwear to school for the first time today! We have been putting it off for long enough, and I'm sure Mateo could have done it long ago. We started a potty chart this past weekend too to prepare him for today. He has done so well and he filled up the chart so he got to go get a snow cone. As we walked into the snow cone store he looked at Juan and said "Daddy, I'm happy."

4 Months and Dentist....

Mia turned 4 months old this week and we had her 4 month check up on Friday.  That makes me sad!  Time is flying and I feel like she is growing up too fast.  She weighed 16 pounds 11 ounces and is 26 inches long.  That is 96th percentile on weight and height, so she is a big girl!  Mateo was 16 pounds and 25 inches ast 4 months, which was 75th percentile for boys.  We are debating who is going to end up taller - Mia or Mateo.

Juan took Mateo to the dentist this past week for the first time.  We were nervous because we have heard so many stories about kids his age needing dental work, and I know we are late taking him.  And I have horrible teeth, so I figured he would be in for it....However, the visit went very well, no work needed, and he was such a big boy at the dentist.  When Juan sent me pictures, it felt so weird that that was Mateo in the chair.  There are times when you look at your kids and realize they are growing up so quickly, and this was definitely one of those moments.

Here are some pics from the week.

Juan's friend, Brian, and his family came over for a BBQ.

Playing with Brian and Lily

Pretty sure I heard her say Gig Em!

Daddy's home!

Daddy is home after being gone for a month in Argentina!  We are all so thrilled to have him back.  Of course he came home with gifts for all of us, which was very sweet.
Before Juan left he asked Mateo what he wanted from Argentina.  Mateo said a lollipop and a soccer ball, so that's what he got.

Something I've always looked forward to doing when I had kids was decorating cookies.  I loved doing it as a kid and couldn't wait to do it with my own kids.  So I decided it was time.  Mateo's attention span made it through most of his cookies, and then he enjoyed eating them!  Note to self - no more blue icing!

And something Juan has always looked forward to was taking Mateo to the movies.  Surprise, surprise....So today was the big day.  He took Mateo to see the new Madagascar movie.  He made it through the enitre movie and had a great time.

And here are some pics from the week.

Mateo continues to amuse us.  This week he hit his head on the wall on accident and I said "I'm going to start calling you Mateo BooBoo Ortegon since you get hurt all of the time."  No more than a couple seconds later I dropped my phone on my foot and was in some obvious pain.  He turned around and said "I'm going to call you Mama BooBoo Ortegon."  He also talked about a dream for the first time this week.  He said he dreamt he was riding horses with Daddy, and so I asked him where I was.  He said I was just watching, because I fell off of my horse.  I asked how I fell off, and he said "You just need to be more careful Mama."

And here are some pictures from Juan's stay in Argentina.
