Spring Fun

Thank goodness for Spring and the beautiful weather so that we can get out!  Although I think one or more of us have been sick every weekend for the past month or so.  Despite the stomach bugs and sinus infections, we have managed to have several recent outings.

It seems like the kids are growing up so quickly it is hard to keep up with the new things that are going on.  Here are some recent Mateo pics.

A couple of weekends ago while Mia was sick with a stomach bug Juan took Mateo to the zoo.  They had a great time.

Not scared of snakes, like his Daddy
A little Freebirds to end the father-son outing.  Mateo is a lucky boy to have Juan as a Daddy.

Homemade sidewalk chalkboard paint.

We purchased tickets to several Rangers games a couple of months ago.  The first one was on a Wednesday a couple of weeks ago.  Juan and I took the day off of work to take Mateo.  It was 80 degrees out the day before and the day after, but it was in the 30s and raining the day of the game!  It was at least delayed enough to let the rain pass, but it was still freezing!  But it was worth it for entertainment for Mateo.  He had a blast and loves watching baseball with Daddy!

Mateo has homework now.  This is a new thing the past couple of weeks, and I already see how much of a pain this is going to be!  It takes him all weekend to find the focus to work on it.  They are working on tracing letters and spelling now.  He appears to be a lefty, and has good control with his tracing.

Cuddling with Duke.

Mia had her one year checkup this week, a little late, but she is healthy as can be.  She weighs 25 pounds which is 93rd percentile, is 33 inches long, which is over 100th percentile, off the charts on her height. And her head is 50th percentile.  She's going to be a tall girl!

Her favorite things these days are:
  • Eating - She's not a picky eater at all.  She will gobble up anything you give her.
  • Hugs - She gives lots of sweet hugs.  Today she gave Mateo the sweetest bear hug I've ever seen her give.
  • Rubbing her face on stuff - This girl loves anything soft - blankets, pillows, couches, bathmats.  She will lay down on the spot to rub her face and snuggle on anything soft.
  • Books - She is starting to get interested in books now, which I love!
  • Pointing - Now we are at the pointing and saying "that" phase.  You can walk around all day long telling her what stuff is.
  • Climbing - She has mastered walking now, so we are moving on to climbing!

This is Mia and her friend Denver.  Notice who's plate is empty?  Also notice that this is why I have so much laundry.

Enough fun for now.  We did a Scarborough Faire outing and I had a trip to Austin too, that I will post in the next blog!
