It is a very Happy Halloween at the Ortegon house tonight, since we closed on our house on Friday. We are through with Bee Creek and officially own just one house again. We are thrilled, although a little sad. But we are so glad to have all of this behind us and to be able to start enjoying our new house. I am so happy that we don’t have any more stairs to deal with, and you can tell from the pictures that is all Mateo wanted to do in that house.
Mateo is really enjoying his new school. He is in the toddler room now, so it seems like he learns something new every day. He blows kisses, tries to hop, knows where his nose, feet, and belly button are, and dances. These are all things he’s picked up on in the past three weeks. On Friday, they had a Halloween party, and we joined him for it. We showed up a little late, and when we got there Mateo was the only one still sitting at the table eating. The teachers say that he eats so slowly, and that he waits for the other kids to finish up before he really starts eating. They say he is so calm and relaxed there, which is the opposite of how he is at home. And they can’t get over how sweet he is – he does hand out hugs and kisses constantly.
Last night we dressed him in his Halloween costume, a dinosaur, and took him to the Halloween carnival. He loves to people watch so I think he enjoyed seeing all the other kids all dressed up. And tonight we sat out on the front porch while the trick-or-treaters came by. His costume was so cute, and I think he liked it, but he was a little off balance in it, and the head kept getting in his way. It was quite amusing to watch.
He loves pull toys now.
