Hello World....

Mateo Isaac Ortegon arrived Saturday September 12 at 12:06pm weighing in at 8lbs 2.2oz and 20 1/4" long just two days shy of his due date. Allison was scheduled to be induced on Sunday morning the 13th, but started having contractions Friday throughout the day and finally made the decision to go to the Hospital around 11:00pm. Naturally the weather was pretty horrible with pounding rain and thunder. After leaving the house and being half a mile away we had to turn around to make sure the garage door was down (a normal occurance). Once arriving at the Hospital we headed straight to Triage where they monitored the contractions and Mateo's heart rate. After 2.5 hours the nurse and Dr. suggested we go ahead and induce due to a slight drop in Mateo's heartrate when Allison moved positions. We were officially admitted around 3am and they started Allison on pitocin shortly thereafter. The labor contractions started pretty quickly and "bloody murder" seemed to be on the horizon by the expressions on Allison's face. It seemed like forever as we waited for the Anesthesiologist to arrive with the "Magic Stuff". Finally at 8am it came and Allison was in la-la land. The nurses started preparing for delivery as we waited for the Dr. to finish up a c-section next door. Allison started pushing at 10:30am while watching HGTV on the TV in the room. I did a pretty good job as a Coach counting to 10 and keeping the ice chips coming. An hour and 15 minutes later a Miracle arrived in the name of Mateo Isaac Ortegon. I can't say it wasn't an emotional moment but it was by far the most amazing thing ever. Mateo cried for about a second and then was just chilling out while they looked him over and weighed him. And so the story begins............ Below are a couple of pictures from his first week........
